Résumé
Après la mort accidentelle de son père Manfred Peickert, directeur de cirque et trapéziste, sa fille Leni souhaite fonder son propre cirque d'après des conceptions nouvelles. Naturelle et directe, elle croit que son amour pour le cirque suffira à transformer celui-ci. Les difficultés s'accumulent et l'entreprise fait faillite. Lion d'Or, Mostra de Venise 1968.
Figure emblématique du Nouveau Cinéma Allemand, Alexander Kluge a privilégié tout au long de son oeuvre une approche documentaire fragmentaire où le débat social et d'actualité prend une place prépondérante.
