Note

"(...) This isn't your atypical world muzak, devoid of passion and heavily clichéd. It is both quiet and impassioned. At times lead composer and vocalist Irwansyah Harahap sings in agonising wails, full of deep unsettling. Rithaony Hutajulu adds her soft, beautifully balanced tonal, honeyed vocals, bringing calm to the proceedings. Although deeply rooted in Sumatran tradition, this music has fiercely exploratory roots encompassing music from Africa, India, Sufi Pakistan, Eastern Europe and South East Asia. Varied comparisons to artists such as, Black Ox Orkestar, John Fahey and Kim Doo Soo spring to mind. There is a deep spiritual unease and longing, which aches through Harahap's vocals. The lyrics are full of faith and tales of personal experience. The guitar playing is wonderfully restrained and fuses an unusual blend of Americana and traditional techniques of South East Asia. The percussion is another highlight and performed by Erni Zulfan. (...)" (Peter Taylor, www.digitalisindustries.com)
