Note

"Uotha" (pronounced water), the first released, live recording of the label, documents the encounter of Italian guitar player Paolo Angeli and American drummer Hamid Drake and the concert they gave at Sardinian festival "Ai confini tra Sardegna e jazz" (19th edition) on September 4, 2004; an intense, exploratory performance by two masters of improvised music and folklore, revealing a soulful interplay between Angeli's Sardinian prepared guitar ("chitarra sarda preparata") and Drake's drumming art. Paolo Angeli , a young Sardinian from Palau (Sassari), plays a prepared guitar which he developed for himself; improvisation, Sardinian traditional folk music and Fred Firth are the roots of his stunning, unprecedented sound world. Hamid Drake, originally from Monroe, Luisiana, but currently living in Chicago, is widly considered one of the best percussionists in improvised music; his 'nomadic' soul has led him to play with a variety of musicians ranging from Don Cherry, Fred Anderson, Pharoah Sanders, David Murray, to William Parker, Ken Vandermark, Gwotet, Mandingo Griot Galaxy and Jusef Lateef, among others.
