"Sound artist and electronic composer Sam Shalabi has penned the musical component of this curious audio play, whilst collaborator Adam Frank has taken on the libretto. The resultant meeting of experimental music, concrete sounds and voices in monologue makes for a kind of fragmented narrative intended as a means of representing the urban spaces of Vancouver and its "incomplete modernization" as the press release would have it. The resultant sound pieces make for a kind of avant-garde theatre, occasionally venturing into something approaching conventional electronic music (with beats, for instance), while in other cases intruding upon far more brutal terrain. The likes of 'A Letter Of Invitation' succeeds in conjuring an atmosphere of melancholy and disharmony, its violin and piano tones creating a mournful atmosphere perfectly accompanying the weary sounding speaker. 'A Structure' is more ambiguous, but sounds all the more experimental for that fact, relying on more subtle electroacoustic composition for its sonic backdrop." www.boomkat.com
